Groundsman & Plant Health Care Technician

About the role

Joshua Tree Experts, the premier outdoor home service company, is seeking an experienced Groundsman & Plant Health Care Technician. The position works alongside a 2‑ to 4‑person tree crew assisting with tree removal, pruning, stump grinding, and wood chipper operations, as well as providing support for Plant Health Care (PHC) work.

Responsibilities

• Assist crew with equipment and vehicle preparation daily.
• Ensure drop zones are safe for coworkers and the public while climbers are aloft.
• Perform pruning and reduction tasks.
• Safely operate tree‑care equipment, including gas‑powered saws, pole saws/clips, and chippers.
• Load and unload trucks and chippers with logs, brush, and debris.
• Follow directions from crew leaders and climbers; maintain and service equipment as needed.
• Assist with PHC services such as tree and shrub spray applications, soil injections, and soil fertilization.
• Provide friendly and excellent customer service.
• Follow safety culture and procedures, including setting up safety and traffic‑control measures at job sites.
• Report to work on time each day and maintain a professional image.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.
• At least 21 years of age with the ability to work 40 hours or more each week.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and willingness to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Prior experience with Plant Health Care (spraying or soil injection) is a plus.
• Texas Pesticide Applicator’s License, or willingness to obtain one.
