About the role
Join the Meridian Waste Columbia Hauling team as a Groundskeeper & Truck Detailer. This position helps keep our property clean, organized, and well maintained while washing and detailing our newer fleet of trucks and company vehicles. We are looking for a dependable team member who takes pride in their work and enjoys seeing the results of a job well done.
Responsibilities
- Wash and detail commercial trucks, company vehicles, and equipment.
- Pressure wash truck bodies, wheels, tires, steps, frames, and other exterior surfaces.
- Clean vehicle interiors, including floors, windows, dashboards, seats, and storage areas.
- Maintain landscaping, including mowing, trimming, weed control, and debris removal.
- Keep the property, parking areas, wash bay, and outdoor work areas clean and organized.
- Complete facility cleanup, organization, and improvement projects as assigned.
- Organize tools, equipment, cleaning supplies, and storage areas.
- Inspect vehicles while cleaning and report visible damage, leaks, or maintenance concerns.
- Safely operate pressure washers, vacuums, landscaping tools, and other assigned equipment.
- Maintain cleaning and landscaping supplies and report when additional materials are needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Work safely around commercial vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
- Operate packing mechanism and various levers and handles to activate the lifting and loading mechanism.
- Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck, if applicable.
- Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy; report any safety issues on standard reports.
- Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
- Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
- Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies.
- Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for the department to ensure all customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- 1-3 years of experience in a similar position.
- Previous landscaping, groundskeeping, vehicle-detailing, pressure-washing, custodial, or property-maintenance experience is preferred but not required.
- Commercial truck-washing or fleet-detailing experience is a plus.
- On-the-job training will be provided.
- Experience in the Solid Waste Industry preferred.
Physical Demands
- Heavy lifting (50-100 pounds).
- Shop environment.

Schedule
Afternoon and night shift, Monday through Friday.
