Groundskeeper (Shop / Yard)

Description

Main Purpose: The Janitor maintains clean, safe and well-kept outdoor grounds and indoor shop areas through routine maintenance, cleaning and basic facility upkeep.

Essential Functions

• Maintain walkways, parking areas and exterior building surroundings to ensure cleanliness and safety
• Clean and maintain outdoor areas by removing trash debris and leaves as needed
• Perform light cleaning of interior workspaces, hallways, windows and facility entrances
• Maintain cleanliness of shop areas through sweeping, mopping, dusting and wiping down surfaces
• Clean and sanitize restrooms including trash removal, sweeping, mopping, disinfecting and restocking supplies
• Empty trash cans and recycling bins and ensure proper waste disposal
• Maintain cleanliness of shop areas through sweeping, mopping, dusting and wiping down surfaces
• Monitor and replenish janitorial supplies such as paper products, soap and sanitizers
• Follow proper procedures for handling and storing cleaning chemicals safely
• Identify areas needing deep cleaning and perform periodic heavy-duty cleaning tasks
• Auxiliary with setup and cleanup for meetings, events or facility activities
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles and air filters as directed
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• 1+ years experience in a janitorial / groundskeeping role within an industrial, shop or yard environment
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Must be able to pass a background check

Desirable Experience, Education And Training

• Ability to follow directions
• Tools, Equipment And Technology: Broom, Mop, Cleaning chemicals and rags, Bathroom restocking supplies, Trash bags and cans

Environmental Conditions

• 80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors
• Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet and dry conditions, dust, mud etc.
• Exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes

Physical Requirements

• Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing
• Turning, twisting, bending and balancing
• Pushing, pulling and reaching
• Must be able to lift and / or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally 75 pounds
