Groundskeeper IV - Part Time
Job Summary
This is a Part Time position working no more than 125 hours per month. If you would like to work for the season only, please apply to our Seasonal Groundskeeper position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform grounds-maintenance tasks including lawn mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, and garden bed upkeep.
- Assist with irrigation system work, including checking zones, adjusting spray heads, and performing minor repairs (e.g., heads, valves, pipe).
- Support tree maintenance efforts, including trimming and removing fallen tree limbs after storms.
- Pick up trash and maintain outdoor cleanliness across SLCC campuses, including emptying outdoor trash receptacles.
- Perform leaf and debris cleanup using rakes, blowers, and other equipment (especially during spring and fall).
- Aid in hardscape maintenance such as sweeping sidewalks and plazas, light power-washing tasks, and general outdoor area cleaning.
- Clean and perform basic care of equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers; report any equipment issues to the supervisor.
- Report safety hazards or environmental concerns (e.g., damaged walkways, hanging branches, irrigation leaks).
- Work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and weather conditions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Physical activity involves bending, stooping, climbing etc.
- Ability to follow instructions and perform manual labor i.e., weed pulling, pruning, turf mowing tasks, operate equipment safely, trash pickup, repair irrigation systems (heads, valves, pipe).
- Must take SLCC required employee trainings, as well as department safety and equipment-use trainings.
- Must be reliable and able to maintain consistent attendance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and team.
- Valid Utah driver’s license, if operating carts/utility vehicles is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience will be considered when determining starting pay.
