Groundskeeper III

About the role

The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas are seeking a Groundskeeper III to maintain and enhance their 33-acre campus in Auburn, CA. This role is highly visible and represents the dignity, care, and welcoming spirit of the community.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead comprehensive grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, pruning, planting, and weed control
• Oversee application of fertilizers, chemicals, and treatments in compliance with safety regulations
• Cook
• Coordinate irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repairs
• Maintain safe, clean, and visually appealing exterior campus areas
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and proper PPE use
• Identify hazards and coordinate timely resolution of issues
• Support training, mentoring, and day-to-day coordination of grounds staff
• Participate in meetings, seasonal projects, and campus support needs

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or GED, 4–6+ years of groundskeeping or landscaping experience, Valid driver’s license, Valid Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) or Qualified Applicator License (QAL), Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs
• PREFERRED: Leading or training grounds staff, Strong knowledge of irrigation systems and chemical application safety, Ability to work independently and as part of a team, Strong organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, Familiarity with mission-driven or healthcare/religious environments
