Groundskeeper II
About the role
The Groundskeeper II provides technical and supervisory skills in planning, organizing and directing the maintenance of grounds. Responsible for the maintenance and general beautification of all grounds including gardens, landscaped areas and parking areas.
Responsibilities
- Mows grass, trims shrubs, trims and cuts trees, replaces dead plants, hauls dirt and fertilizes.
- Trips and edges sidewalks, driveways and flowerbeds.
- Cuts weeds and brush, and removes leaves and rubbish from the grounds.
- Waters shrubbery, hedges, seedlings, flowers and grass.
- Seeds, plants, sods, grades, and cuts lawns.
- Keeps grounds clean and reports broken or leaking hydrants.
- Packs and maintains football fields, baseball diamonds, and intramural fields.
- Liners fields and tracks.
- Cleans and maintains tools, equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Performs related duties as required.
Requirements
This position requires a Texas Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License and three (3) years of acceptable driving history. No experience or education required.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and understand verbal instruction and to learn the operation of all equipment.
- Ability to operate power tools.
- Physical strength and agility needed to perform assigned tasks.
- Capable of following instructions.
- Knowledge of the practices and techniques for the proper care of plants, flowers, shrubs, trees, and lawns.
Other Requirements
Considered essential personnel. Drive a UTA vehicle. Performs related duties as required.
