Grounds Worker

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Keep grass mowed, bushes trimmed, etc.
• Plant as needed
• Install and maintain outside equipment such as playground, sports fields
• Paint parking lots
• Keep exterior of building clean and free of trash, snow, rubbish
• Install and keep sprinkler systems maintained
• Perform fence repairs as needed
• Report needs for more extensive repairs
• Weed exterior of buildings and grounds if needed
• Keep adequate supplies available
• Do concrete work for sidewalks
• Troubleshooting of systems
• Maintain tools and other equipment
• Deliver custodial supplies

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 4 years experience in grounds and maintenance work preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform the job and access the environment for which you are hired
• Sitting, walking, reaching, kneeling, crawling, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 100 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, may be required

Equipment/Technology Handled

• Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all equipment necessary for the job

Work Environment

• Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality
• Interruptions of work are routine
• Flexibility and patience are required
• Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision

Terms of Employment

• Salary and work calendar established yearly by the district
• This position is contracted for 236 days per year
