Grounds Technician

About the role

Responsible to the Grounds Manager for performing a variety of grounds and general maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Mowing, trimming, weeding, seeding, landscaping, planting, and watering
• Snow removal
• Assist with fertilizer and pesticide application (if licensed and certified)
• Operate grounds equipment (e.g., tractors, mowers, spreaders, push mowers, snow blowers) according to safety requirements and guidelines
• Assist with basic maintenance of grounds equipment and other general maintenance tasks
• Complete deliveries, office and furniture moves, and resident housing bed bunking based on needs and project assignments
• Support event set-up and tear-down on campus, athletic grounds, and in campus facilities
• Maintain clean shops and mechanical rooms
• Assist facilities staff with projects and tasks as needed

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of effective experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to perform simple math functions
• Ability to use and climb a ladder safely
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds
• Must be able to work flexible hours for snow removal duties or other special events as needed
