Grounds Lead

Position Summary

Serves as the on-site lead at assigned campuses, working with limited direct supervision and reporting site conditions, work status, and scheduling needs to the Grounds Supervisor.

Key Functions

• Sets up and operates grounds equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and saws.
• Maintains grounds, landscaping, and athletic fields across up to twenty-five (25) assigned campuses.
• Assigns, schedules, and reviews daily grounds maintenance work.
• Monitors job-site safety practices and reports concerns to the Grounds Supervisor.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two (2) years of grounds, landscaping, or related maintenance experience.
• Experience directing the daily work of others preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of general grounds, landscaping, and athletic field maintenance practices.
• Ability to operate mowers, trimmers, saws, and other grounds equipment safely.
• Ability to organize, assign, and review the daily work of a small crew.
• Ability to follow and enforce safety procedures and district standards.
• Ability to communicate clearly with crew members, site staff, and supervisors.
• Ability to work independently at assigned sites with limited direct supervision.
