Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide daily direction to assigned grounds maintenance personnel.
- Assign, coordinate, and inspect work to ensure timely and satisfactory completion.
- Cut grass using walking-type or riding mowers (less than 2,000 lbs.).
- Trim hedges and edge around walks, flower beds, and other landscaped areas using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools.
- Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth using shears and other hand tools.
- Apply fertilizer or insecticide to lawns, shrubs, and trees as directed.
- Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
- Water lawns and shrubs using hoses or sprinkler systems.
- Pick up and dispose of leaves, paper, litter, and other debris.
- Cover snow and ice removal from walks, driveways, roads, and parking areas using appropriate equipment.
- Spread salt or other approved materials on walkways and designated areas.
- Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.
- Auxiliary with repairs to roads, walks, buildings, and equipment as required.
- Maintain work areas and completed work for quality, safety, and contract compliance.
- Ensure personnel follow applicable safety, environmental, and security requirements.
- Assist with training and providing guidance to grounds personnel.
- Perform grounds maintenance duties alongside the crew as operational needs require.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Experience And Skill Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge and experience in grounds maintenance and landscaping activities.
- Prior lead, foreman, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to provide work direction and coordinate daily activities of assigned personnel.
- Ability to understand and communicate verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to safely operate grounds maintenance equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Work Environment
- Frequent heavy or intense physical activity.
- Frequent exposure to environmental conditions including heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, and other outdoor elements.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and push, pull, bend, kneel, and stretch as required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
