Ground Systems Software Engineer III

About the role

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It involves coding and architecting embedded system software for data acquisition and control hardware systems, data processing, and configuration.

Responsibilities

• Software development for embedded systems and back-end services
• Proof of concept development, implementing new technologies and services
• Architecting and breaking down sophisticated systems into manageable work items
• Conduct code reviews, ensuring code quality and consistency with style guides and standards
• Ensure product documentation is accurate and current
• Plan and implement unit and integration tests and ensure functionality of CI/CD pipelines

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical Engineering. Other engineering or science degrees will be considered if experience in responsibilities are met
• 5+ years of industry experience showing proficiency in multiple SW languages - C++, C#, Python, LabVIEW
• Deep experience developing and optimizing embedded systems and controls, particularly for high-reliability applications
• Strong skills in programming data acquisition and control systems with hardware from vendors like NI, UEFI, Deweysoft, and interfacing with PLC brands such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.
• Consistent record setting up/architecting/maintaining scalable software architectures for variably sophisticated systems
• Strong collaboration and communication skills and working within a multi-developer environment

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of meaningful experience in software development, particularly in aerospace or a similarly complex regulated industry
• Demonstrated proficiency coding with LLM’s
• Proficient in usage of containerization software (Docker and Kubernetes)
• Experience integrating AI into software applications
• Strong background in Agile development practices, including Scrum and Kanban

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced skills in C++, C#, Python, LabVIEW, LabVIEW RT, and/or LabVIEW FPGA, including innovative system integrations and real-time data processing
• Proficient in usage of containerization software (Docker and Kubernetes)
• Experience integrating AI into software applications
• Strong background in Agile development practices, including Scrum and Kanban

Pay

Base Pay Range For WA applicants is $164,652.00 - $230,512.80 Other Site Ranges May Differ
