About the role
The paramedic works closely with various healthcare and public service entities, including base hospitals, fire departments, police, highway patrol, and ground ambulance personnel. They also interact with patients, their families, and service groups for public relations and educational purposes.
Responsibilities
- Determine medical and therapeutic interventions based on patient assessment in line with established protocols.
- Maintain safety during patient and aircraft/ambulance handling.
- Determine if additional equipment is needed and prioritize patient transport.
- Care for and manage standard medical supplies.
- Make decisions that require referral to supervisor, such as management outside of established policies, flight requests, ride-alongs, equipment purchases, changes in medical protocols, and coordination of public relations requests.
Requirements
- Current Paramedic in the State of California.
- Current ACLS, CA Ambulance Driver’s License (CA Resident), CPR, PHTLS/ITLS, PALS certification, and Medical Examiner’s Certification.
- Norcal Certification.
- Valid Nevada/California Driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Experience in a high-performance ALS system beneficial.
- Experience in EMS and public education; field or classroom-based preferred.
- Pre-hospital experience.
Skills
- Experience operating an emergency vehicle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adaptable to change and capable of functioning in a team-based management structure.
