About the role
Grossing Technician performs accessioning and gross examination of lower complexity surgical specimens under the direction of a Pathologist and/or Pathologists' Assistant. This role is responsible for proper specimen identification, description, dissection, and submission to ensure high-quality tissue preparation for diagnostic evaluation. The position operates within CLIA-88 high complexity testing personnel guidelines and supports efficient laboratory workflow and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Performs accessioning and gross examination of lower complexity surgical specimens
- Identifies and describes specimens accurately
- Dissects specimens to ensure proper preparation
- Safely submits specimens for diagnostic evaluation
- Maintains specimen integrity and ensures timely delivery
- Operates within CLIA-88 high complexity testing personnel guidelines
- Supports efficient laboratory workflow and compliance
Requirements
- Must meet CLIA-88 requirements for high complexity testing personnel
- 1+ years of healthcare or laboratory-related experience
- Proven solid attention to detail and knowledge of anatomy and specimen handling
- Proven ability to follow complex procedures and maintain specimen integrity
- Proven ability to work in high-volume environment and maintain turnaround times
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in laboratory science or histotechnology
- Additional histology or pathology training
- Experience in surgical specimen grossing
- Experience with LIS systems and specimen photography
Skills
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of anatomy and specimen handling
- Ability to follow complex procedures
- Ability to work in high-volume environment

Pay
The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.15 to $28.80 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
