Responsibilities

• Provide professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning, according to pet parent's instructions and adhering to breed standards and company policies.
• Operate and maintain various grooming instruments, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the salon.
• Evaluate individual needs of each pet, offering grooming recommendations and maintaining a clean and safe grooming area.
• Interact professionally with pet parents, addressing grooming-related inquiries and providing timely resolutions.
• Train and support entry-level trainees in the absence of a Grooming Salon Leader.
• Ensure compliance with Petco grooming policies, standards, and guidelines, and maintain grooming salon standards.

Requirements

• Successful completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco, or relevant experience as a professional groomer.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred, though not required.
• Proven technical experience in grooming and a genuine passion for animals.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of various dog breeds, grooming requirements, common health issues, and behaviors.
• High level of proficiency in breed-specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with pet parents and grooming team members.

Pay

Competitive base pay based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by the Pet Care Center's grooming schedule.
