Night stocking role in overnight shifts in H-E-B’s Grocery, Drug Store, Dairy, Frozen, or General Merchandise departments. Position offers exposure to multiple products and departments, serving as a foundation for career growth within the company.
Responsibilities
- Stock shelves, refill displays, and load/unload heavy or bulky products; may unload trucks.
- Condition shelves and products, applying product knowledge (e.g., rotation dates, shelf/label info) to meet A+ Standards.
- Maintain department cleanliness and organization, including back room and shelves.
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and leader direction; ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards.
- Work efficiently with a team mindset to meet productivity standards and nightly goals.
- Accept and apply constructive feedback to future tasks; may coach/train other stockers.
- Operate cross-functionally within the store, building relationships across departments (e.g., Curbside).
- Model customer service and hospitality, assisting customers with product location and questions.
Requirements
- Ability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays (required).
- Experience in stocking and customer service (preferred).
- Experience in physically demanding jobs (preferred).
- Understanding of SOPs related to emergency procedures and proper stocking (required).
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills (required).
- Customer service mindset and ability to work collaboratively (required).
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including heavy lifting (required).
- Agility to think on your feet, manage multiple priorities, and maintain close attention to detail (required).
- Personal discipline to follow SOPs and leader direction (required).
- Forklift/power jack training (provided upon hire, required).
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented store environment with exposure to cold, loud noise, ambient temperatures, or wet conditions, depending on the department.
- Perform tasks requiring constant reaching at waist, frequent standing/walking/bending, and occasional reaching at overhead/shoulder/knee/floor, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, climbing stairs, pivoting, twisting, pushing/pulling with arms, pinching, or fine motor movements.
- Demonstrate ability to lift and manage weights:
- Grocery: Lift 50 lbs; manage in excess of 100 lbs.
- Drugstore: Lift 66 lbs; manage in excess of 50 lbs.
- Dairy: Lift 86 lbs; manage in excess of 100 lbs.
- Frozen: Lift 60 lbs; manage in excess of 100 lbs.
- General Merchandise: Lift 60 lbs; manage in excess of 60 lbs.
- Measurements for frequency:
- Constantly: 5.5+ hours per 8-hour day.
- Frequently: 2.5–5.5 hours per 8-hour day.
- Occasionally: 0–2.5 hours per 8-hour day.
- Never lift beyond safe limits; break down heavy items or ask for assistance.
