Grocery Night Clerk

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return.
• Aid the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards.
• Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service.
• Demonstrate company core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
• Handle stressful situations effectively.
• Manage basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Communicate effectively with both colleagues and customers.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Respond to customer inquiries about products and suggest additional items.
• Inform customers of grocery specials and recommend products to meet their needs.
• Inspect product quality, adhere to sell by dates, and take appropriate actions.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with store advertisements and promotions.
• Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
• Support associates in reinforcing safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
• Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activities, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

• Minimum ability to handle stressful situations.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.
• Desired retail experience.
• Desired second language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing).
• Ability to promote trust and respect among associates.
• Ability to create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
• Desire to gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and throughout the store.
