Responsibilities
- Aid the Department Manager in organizing work, filling department staffing needs, and training/scheduling associates.
- Respond promptly and courteously to customer and associate comments, complaints, requests, and questions.
- Use Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) to manage merchandise and supplies, and ensure proper accounting.
- Price and display merchandise effectively, maintaining proper signage, product rotation, and cleanliness.
- Engage in and counsel associates on merchandising, customer services, and promotional activities.
- Provide feedback on department budgets, goals, and performance to the Department Manager.
- Communicate and interact positively with associates and customers.
- Maintain equipment and facilities according to company policies and standards.
- Ensure floors, shelves, and grocery areas are clean and meet sanitary standards.
- Implement and promote company initiatives and process improvements.
- Manage workloads and organize tasks effectively.
Qualifications
- Willing to be flexible and work various shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
- Knowledgeable about department operations, including managing people, merchandising, computer-assisted ordering, inventory management, customer services, labor scheduling, expense control, etc.
- Understanding of relevant laws and regulations, including OSHA compliance.
- Ability to operate power machinery and use various job tools.
- Previous grocery retail experience and/or backup manager experience preferred.
- Past work record reflecting dependability and integrity.
