About the role
Provide customer service by processing customer orders in an efficient, accurate, safe, and courteous manner. Consistently deliver friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers. Perform other related work. Generally works 6-8 hour shifts between 4:00 am and 1:00 am.
Responsibilities
- Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers.
- Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on fast, efficient assistance.
- Operate check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners, and scales to process customer orders using two aisles.
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
- Process monetary transactions, including cash, checks, gift certificates, traveler’s checks, food stamps, coupons, and refunds.
- Maintain knowledge of product locations, monitor UPC codes, and ensure proper pricing.
- Keep check stands clean, neat, and properly stocked while ensuring a safe and secure work area.
- Stock, price, and rotate merchandise.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Requirements
- Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Provide friendly, courteous, and tactful service to customers and co-workers.
- Effective communication (hearing and speech) for customer interactions.
- Complete written forms and conduct visual inspections of merchandise.
- Lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Stand for long periods, walk rapidly, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
- Learn and memorize PLU codes, product locations, check stand procedures, and company policies.
- Ensure accuracy in recording sales and handling monetary transactions with basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Climb and balance on ladders when stocking shelves.
- Use blades for box cutting.
- Work in coolers, freezers, and varying weather conditions for outdoor duties.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Food Handlers Certification (per state laws).
Machines and Equipment Operated
- Forklift, electric and manual pallet jacks, hand truck, garbage and cardboard compactor, box knife.
