About the role

This position is responsible for training new associates, focusing on technical training, safety, and evaluating their progress. The role supports orientation and onboarding tasks while providing ongoing coaching and feedback to ensure associates succeed in a fast-paced distribution center environment. The Trainer assists in follow-up training and retraining where needed and partners with the Operations team, Industrial Engineer, and Human Resources to maintain current metrics, documentation, tools, and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one training to associates following onboarding guidelines and checklists.
  • Emphasize safety protocols and best practices, including proper use of equipment, safe work habits, and emergency procedures.
  • Support safety training and reinforce the importance of safety at all times.
  • Assess associate progress through observations, practical experience, and on-the-job performance.
  • Provide constructive feedback and additional support to associates who require further assistance.
  • Offer ongoing coaching and feedback to help associates meet performance and safety standards.
  • Identify areas of improvement and create action plans for individuals as needed.
  • Assess and certify associates on equipment and selection techniques.
  • Instruct associates on selecting and palletizing grocery, produce, meat, frozen food, and dairy orders accurately for shipment to retail stores.
  • Teach associates how to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist the Safety Specialist in implementing monthly safety tips and recertify associates after incidents on equipment.
  • Monitor aisles and provide feedback/coaching to all associates on techniques.
  • Collaborate with supervision to identify training needs and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provide support to production as needed or when training schedules decrease.
  • Role model following all policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Experience in selection and/or lift techniques.
  • Experience in an ADUSA distribution environment (preferred).

  • Ability to operate a pallet jack and lift.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated dedication to safety.

  • Ability to lead and communicate in a professional manner.
  • Ability to partner with various teams and individuals in the Distribution Center.
  • Ability to adapt training methods to meet the diverse learning styles of associates.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to and including 80 lbs. repetitively.
  • Ability to lift 90% floor to shoulder.
  • Ability to communicate in verbal and written correspondence.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts and schedules (length, time, weekends, holidays).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Willingness to be trained in a variety of positions, demonstrating multi-skill capabilities.
  • Able to use a personal computer for data entry and research purposes.
  • Highly motivated self-starter and team player with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to wear a headset to support voice selection for all areas of warehouse selection.
  • Ability to work in a -5°F to 90°F+ environment (temperature varies within each department) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to read and understand written and numeric product identifiers.
