Grocery Driver Development Manager

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level analytical support to Grocery Terminal Leaders focusing on driver development initiatives that support safety and retention goals.
• Evaluate Driver satisfaction, retention, and turnover; provide tools to assist in increasing retention and reducing turnover.
• Work closely with department personnel to develop training for driver safety.
• Gather, analyze, and interpret retention data to identify the best course of action for terminal leadership to decrease turnover.
• Perform regular assessments to ensure consistent improvement on metrics impacting driver safety and retention.
• Develop strategies and sponsor key initiatives to foster a culture of positive driver support and improve retention.
• Gather, organize, and analyze information on problems or procedures to develop solutions or alternative methods to avert losses.
• Review terminal safety reports and effect changes to reduce losses.
• Review various reporting on driver safety (Drive Cam, IMDS, CER, etc.) and direct activities to effect positive safety outcomes.
• Ensure coaching is effective and that the terminal meets company safety expectations.
• Provide guidance to terminal employees regarding local, state, and federal safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Promote good relations with internal and external customers by coaching and supporting employees on safety solutions.
• Counsel high-risk drivers on safety-related aspects, including risk analysis scoring.
• Serve as the ultimate decision-maker to issue corrective action, up to and including termination of employment.
• Proactively assist others in achieving the organization’s objectives.

Requirements

• Four years' experience in operations field and/or safety in the trucking industry required.
• Previous experience as a truck driver preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to build consensus and influence others.
• Strong collaborative skills and demonstrated development of interpersonal relationships.
• Associates degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.

Pay

$67,250.00 - $91,750.00 annual
