About the Role
The Grocery Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining a well-stocked, clean, and organized grocery department. This position involves stocking shelves, assisting customers, rotating products, and ensuring displays are neat and appealing.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily operations including product stocking, rotation, and merchandising to maximize sales and product quality.
- Deliver excellent customer service by answering questions, locating items, handling concerns professionally, and offering product suggestions.
- Ensure department cleanliness and adherence to health and company standards.
- Report inventory needs and maintenance issues to the Grocery Manager.
- Maintain communication with vendors and partners.
- Achieve all assigned tasks to the best of your ability.
- Assist with frontend responsibilities during peak times (cashiering, bagging, gathering carts, etc.).
Requirements
- Age Requirement: 16 years+
- Machinery: 18 years+
- Availability: Flexible-including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, twist, sit, and bend for extended periods; lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds; manual dexterity for handling small objects and operating equipment; repetitive use of hands and arms; occasional stooping, crouching, kneeling, or crawling.
- Tools and Machinery: Pallet jack, forklift, box cutter, knives and blades, two-wheeler and six wheeler, hand-held ordering machine, computer use, phone/intercom, POS system, and any other tools and machinery deemed necessary for the role.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; applicants currently working towards completion are welcome to apply. Basic computer proficiency; previous customer service experience preferred.
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to write, speak, hear, and understand the spoken word; friendly, customer-focused attitude; basic knowledge of food safety or willingness to complete training; punctuality, dependability, and ability to follow instructions; quick implementation of solutions; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to handle inquiries and complaints effectively; reading and following instructions; great verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications
- Ability to access and navigate all areas of the store.
- Lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting repeatedly.
- Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders are required.
