Grocery Clerk - Full Time

About the role

River Market Community Co-op is seeking a Full Time Grocery Clerk to work in a community-owned grocery store in downtown Stillwater. The position supports a sustainable local food system and offers opportunities to develop transferable retail skills while providing excellent customer service, maintaining stocked shelves, ensuring product quality and safety, and keeping the store clean and organized.

Responsibilities

• Interact directly with customers and provide assistance
• Maintain attractive, fully stocked shelves
• Ensure high standards of product quality and safety
• Keep the store clean and organized
• Perform established opening and closing procedures according to department manager’s timeline
• Receive shipments
• Sort and stock merchandise
• Ensure items returned, damaged, or dated are accurately recorded and properly disposed of
• Assist customers with placing and picking up special orders and provide price checks as requested
• Follow all directions accurately and in accordance with established production guidelines

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills
• Able to perform basic arithmetic including counting, addition, and subtraction
• Able to repetitively lift and carry 25 lbs, and occasionally 50 lbs
• Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
• Able to remain on feet for long periods of time
• Able to spend time working in refrigerated spaces
• Availability to work weekends and evenings
• Must be physically able to occasionally grasp, grip, pull, push, twist, and turn as needed
• Constant (67‑100%): Walking, standing, lifting/carrying up to 25 lb floor to waist, talking, hearing, correctable vision including near acuity and depth perception
• Frequent (34‑66%): Bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, lifting/reaching waist to shoulder, lifting/reaching above the shoulder
• Occasional (1‑33%): Working in refrigeration, pushing, pulling, lifting/carrying up to 50 lb floor to waist, lifting up to 100 lb with assistance floor to waist

Pay

Experience‑based pay ranging from $17.75 to $19.06 per hour.

Schedule

Must have availability to work weekends (and evenings as noted in requirements).
