Grocery Clerk

Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities
- Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
- Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions or make product suggestions.
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions to notify store management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of repair needs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
