About the role
Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards.
Responsibilities
- Helps customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Informs customers of food specials and recommends grocery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
- Checks product quality to ensure freshness.
- Reviews "sell by" dates and takes appropriate action.
- Provides customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.
- Labels, stocks, and inventory department merchandise.
- Reports product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stays current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
- Adheres to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensures proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
- Gains and maintains knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
- Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Reinforces safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management.
- Promotes preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
- Notifies management of customer or employee accidents.
- Able to work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
- Able to manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational and cooperative manner.
- Able to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Able to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Qualifications

- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
