Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return.
- Aid the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals.
- Maintain quality assurance standards.
- Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to provide excellent customer service.
- Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold in the department.
- Offer product samples and suggest new items to customers.
- Inform customers about dairy specials and fresh products.
- Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Display a positive attitude and stay updated with store promotions.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures.
- Participate in safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks and illegal activities.
Requirements
- Minimum ability to handle stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Retail experience is desired but not required.
- Ability to promote trust and respect among associates.
- Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Ability to provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
