Requirements
- Minimum ability to handle stressful situations
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
- Retail experience desired
- Ability to promote trust and respect among associates
- Ability to create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated
- Ability to answer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
- Ability to gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions about products
- Ability to offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
- Ability to inform customers of dairy specials
- Ability to provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered
- Ability to recommend items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need
- Ability to check product quality to ensure freshness
- Ability to review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action
- Ability to label, stock and inventory department merchandise
- Ability to report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- Ability to display a positive attitude
- Ability to stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- Ability to adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Ability to ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained
- Ability to reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management
- Ability to practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair
- Ability to notify management of customer or employee accidents
- Ability to report all safety risks, or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud
- Ability to work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments
- Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational and cooperative manner
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
- Ability to provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults
