Responsibilities
- Absorb and maintain a safe and clean environment to encourage customer return.
- Achieve and exceed sales and profit goals set for the department.
- Maintain and monitor all established quality assurance standards.
- Embrace and promote the Customer 1st strategy, encouraging associates to provide excellent customer service.
- Display a positive attitude and stay current with store promotions and safety regulations.
- Answer questions about products and offer product samples to customers.
- Inform customers about dairy specials and provide fresh products as needed.
- Recommend products to customers to meet their needs and desires.
- Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions and illegal activities.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
Qualifications
- Minimum ability to handle stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Retail experience is desired.
- Ability to promote trust and respect among associates.
- Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Ability to provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
