Job Description
Operator Job Responsibilities:
- Operates and maintains centerless grinder.
- Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.
- Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
- Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
- Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
- Maintains inventory of completed products.
- Monitors production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary.
- Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.
- Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Performs in-process quality checks such as first article inspection and inspecting work in progress to maintain dimensions and quality using micrometers and gauges.
- Recognizes improper machine functioning and makes required adjustments.
- Performs a variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, transferring of parts.
Position Skills and Experience Requirements
- Ability to use measuring instruments (micrometer and calipers).
- Ability to handle physical workload which includes: the regular exposure to noise and oils and varying temperatures.
- Ability to lift/pull up to fifty (50) pounds, to stand for long periods of time, and to wear personal protective equipment.
- Ability to accurately read blueprints for various size screw and bolt blanks.
- Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week (M-F 6 am-2:30 pm).
- Occasional overtime work may be required to meet business demands.
- Will be exposed to diverse manufacturing environments, noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous material.
- Safety: Proper PPE to be worn while on the shop floor, including safety glasses, hearing protection, long pants, steel toe boots; no loose or baggy clothing.
