Grid Systems Project Manager - 1898 & Co. (Kansas City)

About the role

The selected candidate will join the Enterprise System & Integration team at Description 1898 & Co., a division of Burns & McDonnell. The team provides consulting services focused on modernizing utility grid operations using technologies like SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional consulting services focused on solutions such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), Distribution Management Systems (DMS), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS).
• Lead efforts to identify and deliver grid operations services that support grid modernization assessments, technology roadmaps, software upgrades, and implementations.
• Architect, design, develop, and implement SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS solutions to support complex business requirements.
• Support commissioning, testing, and deployment of SCADA systems and perform point testing and/or field data verification for advanced distribution applications such as FLISR, VVO, and DER Dispatch.
• Lead or assist with program estimating, planning, and budgeting efforts and be accountable for the program/project delivery execution.
• Act as the project manager lead with overall project delivery responsibilities, including scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues, and overall project delivery.
• Ensure the successful completion of the project per the budget, scope, quality, and attainment of the business objectives.
• Supervise the overall project status and progress and ensure all scheduled milestones and delivery dates are met.
• Ensure the overall project quality of deliverables.
• Assist with or lead the business process design activities to drive out the complete application requirements: functional, quality, integration, and security.
• Lead or assist with completing high-level project communications and status reporting to the supporting executive team.
• Assist with providing a central point of contact for all project interdependencies, internal and external.
• Use Project execution experience and knowledge to provide input and influence project execution processes and quality assurance/quality control protocols.
• Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Business, Information Technology, or related degree from an accredited program and 5 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge in project management, techniques, and procedures.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Experience leading technical aspects of consulting engagements in regards to decarbonization and zero emissions transportation.
• Experience on consulting projects, client operations, or executing program management within the critical infrastructure industry.
• Understanding of general business and financial principles.
• Experience with communicating across business segments to understand project objectives.
