Grid Systems ADMS/AspenTech Implementation Consultant

Job Summary

1898 & Co., a division of a leading infrastructure engineering and utilities firm, is seeking a Grid Systems Consultant with demonstrated experience implementing Aspen Tech Digital Grid Management (DGM) solutions for electric utility clients. This role supports the delivery of grid modernization programs and advanced grid management solutions that improve reliability, operational efficiency, situational awareness, and system resiliency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead functional and technical activities across all phases of large-scale Aspen Tech Digital Grid Management implementations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Aspen Tech Monarch Platform solutions and associated OMS, ADMS, DMS, EMS, and SCADA applications.
  • Lead client workshops and stakeholder meetings to gather, document, validate, and manage requirements.
  • Develop solution designs, workflows, configuration specifications, interface designs, and implementation documentation.
  • Lead requirements traceability, test planning, test execution, defect management, and defect triage activities.
  • Cookordinate and oversee system integration activities involving OMS, ADMS, SCADA, EMS, GIS, AMI, DERMS, and Distribution Automation.
  • Lead system commissioning, UAT, cutover planning, deployment, and production go-live activities.
  • Analyze utility business processes and operational workflows to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, status reports, risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and executive communications.
  • Support software evaluation and selection activities, including RFP development and vendor assessments.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders.
  • Deliver client training, knowledge transfer sessions, operational readiness activities, and post-deployment support.
  • Troubleshoot complex application, integration, and operational issues.
  • Mentor junior consultants and contribute to best practices and delivery methodologies.
  • Support business development efforts through proposals, presentations, and solution strategy discussions.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies, quality standards, and client requirements.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience leading workstreams, project teams, or major project deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of utility operations and grid modernization initiatives.
  • Experience gathering business, functional, technical, and integration requirements.
  • Experience leading testing, deployment, cutover, and operational readiness activities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid project delivery methodologies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the electric utility industry, utility consulting, or utility technology implementation environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience implementing and integrating ADMS systems (must be shown on resume).
  • Required experience implementing AspenTech Digital Grid Management solutions, including AspenTech Monarch Platform (must be shown on resume).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field is required.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Position requires up to 50% travel; candidate must be based in or willing to work from the Dallas, TX office when not traveling.
  • MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check required — driving is required for this role.
