Green Fleet Advisor & Team Supervisor (SA2)

Join Seattle Public Utilities as the Green Fleet Advisor & Team Supervisor, where you will play a pivotal role in advancing the utility’s sustainability and climate action goals.
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is a community-centered utility that delivers vital services to Seattle residents and businesses including drinking water, drainage and wastewater, and garbage/recycling/compost. SPU also provides drinking water for 1.5 million customers in the region. SPU’s work includes system maintenance and improvements and keeping Seattle clean. Over 1,400 SPU employees work with our community to provide affordable and equitable stewardship of our water and waste resources for future generations.
Responsibilities
- Lead SPU’s fleet greenhouse gas reduction and electrification strategies, policies, and short & long-term planning
- Develop and implement pilot programs that evaluate emerging technologies and innovative sustainability solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from SPU fleets
- Manage the expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure across SPU facilities, including project scope, budget, schedule, and contractor oversight
- Lead the Fleet Management team, including supervision of four (4) staff, fleet replacement programs, policy & procedure development, and performance reporting
- Establish and monitor KPIs to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Analyze operations and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and service delivery for the Fleets Management section
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships to ensure quality, compliance, and service-level performance
- Prepare executive briefings, presentations, and reports, including updates on mayoral directives and climate-related initiatives
- Serve as a member of the Logistics Division’s core emergency response team
Qualifications
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in policy, organizational planning, project or program management, or advising senior management or executives on policy or program direction, or related field, including one (1) year of supervisory experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Project Management, Environmental Studies, or related field or Seven (7) years of relevant experience may be substituted if applicant does not have a degree
- Desired Qualifications: Experience analyzing operational and performance data to support green fleet initiatives, Strong public speaking & presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences, Proactive & persistent, with the ability to navigate challenges to achieve results, Curious mindset with a passion for learning & exploring new ideas, Naturally curious with a desire to learn, ask questions, and continuously improve processes and outcomes
Additional Information
- Workplace Schedule/Environment: This position will be required to work in the office five (5) days per week, individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor. Work is performed both in an office environment and in a public setting. Collaborative, inclusive team environment

- The full salary range for this position is $118,118.16 - $177,229.44 per year
