Green End - Operator II

Job Purpose: To oversee the production of wood wafers by processing logs through Waferizer and Debarker Key Responsibilities Operates equipment controls to regulate speed of logs on conveyor, to cut logs and transfer wafers to set bins.Coordinates process with Dryer Operator and Crane OperatorAssists in changing knives as necessary.Identifies control panel problems and operational problemsBlows down waferizer, area to maintain clean equipmentCorrects log jams; unplugs bark from beltsMonitors wafers going to wet bins and removes oversized wafersExpected to maintain 100% compliance with Environmental, Housekeeping standards, policies for areaExpected to safely, efficiently train other designated individuals in operation of WaferizersInspects and conducts routine preventative maintenance on Waferizers, Debarkers, Bark SystemsCarry out Strand Geometry analysis and prepare reportsUnderstand knife projections/knife angle and how to reduce variation to produce proper flake Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulationsPerform other assigned duties and responsibilities as necessary Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Basic mechanical skillsKnowledge of CAE Waferizer components, maintenance, and inspection routineAbility to operate pneumatic air tools and use measuring devicesAbility to operate waferizer, chain-saw and air hoseForklift certified, ability to operate Cat 966/938/Uni loaderAbility to read and follow complex directionsAbility to interpret data and prepare reportAbility to read and understand safety rules and regulations Minimum Requirements High School diploma or equivalentCrane operating experienceExcellent manual dexterity, visual acuity and depth perception, eye/hand coordinationAbility to maintain required documentationAbility to read and understand, follow safety rules and regulations Essential Functions Required to climb, bend, stoop, squat, life over 40 pounds, enter confined spaces and work at substantial heightMust work with extremely sharp instrumentsAbility to work under stress when equipment fails
