GRE Molder I

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reading work orders, drawings, and BIRNS manufacturing procedures, selects and assembles correct tooling (mold) sections for the item to be molded.
• Prepares electrical contacts and/or other items for insertion into the mold.
• Attaches them (as necessary) to wires or cable.
• Inserts contacts into the mold.
• Properly installs mold into molding press.
• Injects mold with GRE molding material.
• Applies correct combination of molding variables (clamp pressure, injection pressure, temperature, time, etc.) to molding press to derive good results.
• Records applied molding variables.
• Removes molded items from press.
• Performs preliminary quality control check; records quantity of, and reasons for, any rejected parts.
• Removes excess material from molded parts.
• Performs second operations (e.g., post-curing) as needed.
• Cleans and maintains tooling and equipment as needed.
• Replaces tooling in proper tool crib.
• Performs other related work, e.g., preparing and soldering cable wires to connectors.
• Records time spent on each operation for job costing purposes.
• Bridges ideas for procedural improvement to supervisor's attention.
• Assists in inventory control of molding materials and supplies.
• Provides support as needed for other factory requirements, e.g., assembly, warehouse, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Educational Background: High-school diploma or equivalent, and three to five years of related technical experience and/or training.
• Molding Expertise: Three to five years of molding (or similar discipline) experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and blueprints.
