ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reading work orders, drawings, and BIRNS manufacturing procedures, selects and assembles correct tooling (mold) sections for the item to be molded.
- Prepares electrical contacts and/or other items for insertion into the mold.
- Attaches them (as necessary) to wires or cable.
- Inserts contacts into the mold.
- Properly installs mold into molding press.
- Injects mold with GRE molding material.
- Applies correct combination of molding variables (clamp pressure, injection pressure, temperature, time, etc.) to molding press to derive good results.
- Records applied molding variables.
- Removes molded items from press.
- Performs preliminary quality control check; records quantity of, and reasons for, any rejected parts.
- Removes excess material from molded parts.
- Performs second operations (e.g., post-curing) as needed.
- Cleans and maintains tooling and equipment as needed.
- Replaces tooling in proper tool crib.
- Performs other related work, e.g., preparing and soldering cable wires to connectors.
- Records time spent on each operation for job costing purposes.
- Bridges ideas for procedural improvement to supervisor's attention.
- Assists in inventory control of molding materials and supplies.
- Provides support as needed for other factory requirements, e.g., assembly, warehouse, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Reasonable accommodations may need to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Educational Background: High-school diploma or equivalent, and three to five years of related technical experience and/or training.
- Molding Expertise: Three to five years of molding (or similar discipline) experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and blueprints.
