Full-time school-year, hourly position at Grand Rapids Christian High School. Schedule is Monday–Friday, second shift (3:30 p.m.–12:00 a.m. during the school year, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. during summer). School year runs from the third week of August through the last week of May; summer runs from the first week of June to the second week of August. Shift includes a 30-minute unpaid and 30-minute paid break.
About the role
Working in cooperation with the high school custodial staff, the custodian will complete all assigned tasks in designated portions of the building and as requested. The GRCHS Custodian will interact with students, staff, and community members in a positive, servant-like manner to deliver quality results with a pleasant demeanor.
Responsibilities
- Views him or herself as a member of a team and works well with students and adults while completing custodial tasks.
- Teaches and leads students and adults during clean-ups and summer cleaning.
- Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned.
- Lays out and organizes work with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Dusts, mops, sweeps, damp and wet mops, hard and resilient floors, and vacuums.
- Cleans stairs, hallways, corridors, walls, outside steps, windowsills, and other designated areas.
- Cleans venetian blinds, radiators, grills, intake and exhaust vents, light fixtures, and handrails.
- Cleans restrooms, fixtures, mirrors, and replenishes soap and paper goods.
- Sets up and takes down tables, chairs, and equipment for scheduled meetings.
- Responsible for care, maintenance, safety, and protection of all mechanical equipment and building/ground maintenance.
- Performs rudimentary maintenance in all areas of school mechanicals.
- Lifts up to 80 pounds and moves equipment/furnishings to perform required tasks.
