About the role
A journeyman-level Boilermaker with a minimum of 4 years of heavy industrial experience in boiler and boiler component assembly, maintenance, welding, fabrication, and stress relieving. Knowledgeable in oxyfuel cutting, valve and gasket installation, rigging, and interpreting boiler drawings.
Responsibilities
- Use hand, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools safely.
- Perform oxyfuel cutting tasks: straight line, square shapes, piercing, slot cutting, bevels, and washing.
- Identify and install valves, including interpreting valve markings and nameplate information.
- Identify, explain, and install gaskets, including layout and cutting.
- Identify and install hangers and supports, including variable and constant spring can supports.
- Fabricate socket weld and butt weld piping, including interpreting drawings and determining pipe lengths.
- Perform advanced tube work: identifying, extracting, rolling, and plugging tubes.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Calculate load requirements and assist with lift plans, including pre-lift checklists and hand signals.
- Perform rigging tasks using chain hoists, come-a-longs, jacks, and tuggers.
Requirements
- Four (4) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Boilermaker.
- Own a locking toolbox and necessary tools for the job.
- Proficient in rigging procedures and equipment.
- Ability to complete all pre-hire requirements.
Physical/Site Requirements
- Lift and carry items up to 45 pounds.
- Work in confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
- Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
- Work up to 12-hour shifts in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Work at heights with fall protection, including from manlifts, baskets, and JLGs.
- Wear PPE, including footwear and prescription safety glasses or eye shields.
