About the Role

Zawyer Sports is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and technically skilled individual to balance visual branding work with the technical demands of live game production in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role is ideal for someone comfortable both behind a design tablet and operating within a control room—a creative problem-solver with hands-on production expertise.

Responsibilities

Graphic Design

  • Design a wide range of creative materials including social media graphics, marketing campaigns, print collateral, web assets, and in-arena visuals using static design, motion design, and video.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all content while incorporating feedback from the marketing team and Zawyer management.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of digital and social media strategies with a focus on visual storytelling.
  • Support social media posting and content collection.
  • Contribute to content ideation for all platforms.
  • Support partnership and ticketing departments with presentation decks and promotional materials.

Game Production & Technical Operations

  • Serve as the producer of the game production team for all Charlotte home games, operating the technical systems behind the in-arena experience.
  • Operate and program video board, LED, and scoreboard control systems (e.g., Daktronics, xpression, Tagboard) for live game content.
  • Edit and produce video content, graphics packages, and animations for video board, LED, and social/broadcast use in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Build and run game day scripts, timing sheets, and technical run-of-show documents in coordination with the production team.
  • Operate and train replay, camera, and switcher systems during live games; troubleshoot AV and technical issues in real time.
  • Coordinate with arena technical/stage/ops staff and external vendors to ensure smooth technical execution of promotions, ceremonies, and theme nights.
  • Manage and organize technical asset libraries—video, graphics, music, and stingers—for efficient reuse game to game.
  • Support production planning for theme nights, playoff games, and special ceremonies from a technical and content standpoint.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in game production, broadcast production, or live event technical production, preferably in professional or minor league sports.
  • 2+ years of experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio.
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro).
  • Experience with video board/scoreboard control systems (e.g., Daktronics, xpression, Tagboard) and video switchers strongly preferred.
  • Experience with live production equipment (cameras, replay, audio) is a plus.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills and comfort working with production hardware and software under time pressure.
  • Excellent multitasking, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with a passion for hockey, basketball, and sports entertainment.
  • Creative thinker with a sharp eye for content and an ability to innovate within brand guidelines.
  • Flexible and dependable—able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on game and event schedules.
  • Knowledge of Daktronics, Tagboard, and game scripting/production software is a plus.
