Graphic Design Team Lead

About the role

The Graphic Design Team Lead contributes to ONC’s mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions by overseeing the Graphic Design Team. This remote position is conducted primarily over Zoom and Slack, requiring comfort with remote coordination and high-level communication. The internship duration can range from a semester to a year or more, with a preferred commitment of six months.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Graphic Design team at ONC.
• Delegate tasks to interns based on their strengths and expertise.
• Provide guidance and support to interns.
• Actively coach interns, fostering their professional development.
• Project management: coordinate and prioritize design projects, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Creative direction: provide guidance and feedback to interns, ensuring design concepts align with brand guidelines and mission.
• Quality control: review and approve design work for visual appeal, accuracy, and brand compliance.
• Conduct regular design critiques to encourage improvement and consistency.
• Effectively communicate with other ONC team members (Slack, Email, Zoom).
• Ensure interns have the necessary resources and assistance to excel in their roles.

Qualifications

• Working towards a degree in Visual/Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
• Responsive, consistent, and effective communicator, even during conflict.
• Self‑starter who takes initiative and completes tasks.
• Ability to work remotely and on one’s own schedule to meet deadlines.
• Adobe Suite experience.
• Canva experience preferred.
• Google Workspace experience preferred.
• Ability to attend Organization‑Wide meetings every other week.
• Ability to lead weekly Graphic Design Team meetings.
• Must be authorized to intern in the U.S.
