Position Summary

The Grants Compliance & Monitoring Lead position K0245154 will oversee and conduct financial and performance audits to ensure compliance with statutes, regulations, KDHE policies and standards, as well as generally accepted accounting principles. Prepares and reviews written reports summarizing audit findings and recommending corrective action to agency officials and others as determined by internal procedures. Prepare the work papers to support audit findings and audit work performed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the administrative activities of KDHE through periodic reviews and appraisals of accounting, administrative, and operational controls.
  • Develop and maintain KDHE policy and standards governing audit processes and procedures that ensure agencies that receive funds through KDHE have adequate fiscal and management controls.
  • Ensure internal KDHE compliance and accountability to Kansas statutes, regulations, KDHE policy and standards, as well as generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Develops and conducts routine training on accounting and fiscal procedures and requirements for funding recipients and KDHE internal staff.

Qualifications

Education: High School, GED. Licensing & Certification: Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.

Minimum Qualifications: Five (5) years experience in Accounting, Auditing, Business Administration or examining internal work processes, financial and operational records and controls to assess the effectiveness, accuracy of records, and compliance with statutes regulations and professional/legal standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Years experience in Accounting, Auditing, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Proofreading, editing, attention to detail
  • Ability to assemble data and prepare reports.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret federal regulations and requirements.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices & standards.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with general ledgers and cash reconciliation.
  • Experience & ability to detect and reconcile discrepancies in financial records.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with budget and procurement practices and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial information & to recommend appropriate corrective action.
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance for Federal Awards.

Pay

Hourly Pay Range: $36.06. Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications.

Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas. A Tax Clearance can be obtained through the Kansas Department of Revenue who reviews individual accounts for compliance with Kansas Tax Law.
