Grants and Contracts Specialist III
Salary
The annual salary for this position ranges from $62,000 to $74,000. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
Purpose of Position
Provide supervision and administration guidance of all Pre-Award/Post-Award activities. Provides guidance in the preparation and processing of complex research grants and contract proposals and for their management when awarded. Responsible for assisting in planning, coordinating, and supervision of the activities of the office; for developing and administering procedures designed to comply with appropriate regulations relating to the administration of government and private research grants, contracts and gifts; and for the interpretation and application of such procedures and regulations.
Essential Functions
- Aid Principal Investigators (PIs) with pre-award proposal development and submission to federal, state, and private funding agencies, ensuring adherence to sponsor requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to PIs on grant and contract proposals, including reviewing applications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with institutional and sponsor guidelines.
- Identify and disseminate external funding opportunities by managing automated search tools and assisting faculty with funding database searches.
- Collaborate with the Office of Grants and Contract Services in coordinating and supporting electronic proposal submissions.
- Develop and deliver training and workshops on funding opportunities, proposal preparation, and award management for faculty and staff.
- Serve as a liaison between PIs and internal/external stakeholders, maintaining regular communication and supporting the preparation of funding reports, forecasts, and analyses.
- Administer post-award financial activities, including conducting monthly financial reviews, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with sponsor and institutional policies.
- Maintain effort certification, personnel appointments, and payroll activities related to sponsored projects, including processing payments for project participants and consultants.
- Manage award lifecycle activities, including account setup, budget revisions, prior approval requests, subcontract monitoring, financial reporting, and project closeouts in coordination with Grants Accounting and Grants and Contract Services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business or higher education, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the preparation and processing of research grant and/or contract proposals and in a higher education environment or seven (7) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in business or higher education, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledgeable of federal/state programmatic and fiscal rules and regulations related to sponsored research projects.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm.
