Job Description
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that grants/contracts are well managed and that WHH teams and partners are fully informed of relevant donor compliance regulations and WHH procedures
- Lead, plan and coordinate the proposal writing process with all relevant internal (in-country/headquarters) and external stakeholders (partners, others)
- Ensure proposals comply with donor guidelines and requirements, are written in reader-friendly and compelling language, and meet deadlines for internal review and final submission
- Lead the preparation of all concept notes and proposals, including draft logical frameworks
- Develop proposal budgets, including compilation of ideas/concepts from partner organizations, under the overall direction of the Head of programmes and in coordination with all internal units/field offices
- Provide training to WHH staff and partner organization staff on project proposals, methodology, and requirements
- Cookordination and facilitation of meetings to review calls for proposals, grant openings, modifications and closures, including action items and monitor progress against timelines in close coordination with the Head of programmes, Human Resources, Finance and Logistics departments
- Ensure high quality and timely reports that meet donor and WHH requirements and incorporate mainstreaming issues such as gender and inclusion
- Cookordination and facilitation of WHH's regular external reporting (government, embassies, etc.) according to stakeholder standards
Requirements
- A university degree or comparable training in a field relevant to this position
- At least 5-years of working experience in the development/humanitarian aid sector
- Demonstrated experience in leading the coordination of successful multi-sectoral proposals
- Global experience of working in a multi-cultural setting is required - regional experience working in Sierra Leone would be an advantage
- EU, BMZ, GIZ, FCDO and/or UN, Multilateral Institutions donor experience would be an asset
- Strong understanding of all stages of program cycle management and quality standards in development programming
- Excellent report writing skills and sound knowledge of budget development and management
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- You recognize the growing value of data in your field and are eager to build your awareness and skills to incorporate data-informed approaches into your work
- Excellent spoken and written English and German skills are required
