GRANT-FUNDED ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) INSTRUCTOR POOL

Job Duties

• Provide instruction in English with a focus on civics to meet state and federal grant requirements.
• Develop and deliver lesson plans and syllabi for in-person learning and virtual instruction using appropriate teaching techniques and strategies.
• Create a caring and supportive learning environment that fosters adult learners' responsibility and incorporates effective instructional strategies.
• Adapt curriculum to offer individual, small group, and remedial level instruction to meet the diverse needs of adult learners and subgroups.
• Maintain and complete required AEL professional development hours as mandated by the Texas Workforce Commission.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Bilingual or equivalent proficiency in one language other than English.
• Computer proficiency.
• Career and compassion with strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication.
• Ability to facilitate group learning and establish and maintain constructive relationships in the classroom.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years direct teaching experience in ESL.
• Teaching Certificate.
