Grant Development Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify sponsor announcements for grant applications, and analyze and interpret application requirements.
  • Prepare grant application forms in sponsor portals, in collaboration with principal investigators and according to program announcements and sponsors application guidelines.
  • Cook up subcontract applications with IBR principal investigators and external organizations grants staff.
  • Coordinate preparation of budgets for grant applications and contracts with IBR Grants Budget Office.
  • Review grant application and subcontract materials for compliance with sponsor guidelines.
  • Aid scientists in preparing grant application materials (e.g., biosketches and Other Support).
  • Monitor and interpret current requirements and provide training on updates regarding evolving NIH and other sponsor policies, processes, and grant application requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, public health, business administration, or a related field.
  • Three years of grant administration experience.
  • Two years experience preparing, validating, and submitting NIH grant applications using NIH ASSIST.
  • Two years experience using eRA Commons to manage application statuses, Just-in-Time (JIT) responses, and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs).
  • One year's experience with SciENcv (National Library of Medicine) to train and assist researchers with preparing NIH biosketches and Other Support documents, and with eBRAP to help prepare Department of Defense CDMRP applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in life sciences, public health, business administration, or a related field with two years of grant administration experience.
  • Experience managing multiple grant projects simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of Proposal Central and Research.gov (NSF).

About the Role

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking an experienced candidate to fill a full-time Grant Development Specialist position. This position supports scientists and staff at the Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities (IBR) through the entire grant lifecycle, from application and subcontract preparation to post-award compliance and reporting.
