About the role
At Feather River Tribal Health (FRTH), the Grant Writer and Grant Coordinator positions play a crucial role in securing funding for various programs and initiatives. The Grant Writer is responsible for identifying, defining, and developing funding sources to support existing and planned program activities, while the Grant Coordinator helps grant project managers by assisting with implementation of grant requirements.
Responsibilities
- Identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities
- Lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies
- Coordinate the application process including planning, organization, preparation, writing and the administration of all the grants awarded to the agency
- Interact with partners and administrative staff to ensure the grant is compliant with regulatory funding agency and policy requirements
- Work with administrative staff and other department heads to find applicable grants, and spearhead the application process
- Maintain and monitor the grant objectives and goals to ensure compliance and reporting requirements are met in a timely manner
- Manage administrative issues and/or budget changes occurring during the awarded granting period
- Disseminate and present changes to project managers and participate in the implementation of changes required by the grants
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the Fiscal Department
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with accounting principles preferred
- At least 5 years of experience working with grants, compliance, and reporting requirements
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Native American culture
- Ability to develop and implement grants and other proposals
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to collect and analyze information, and to devise and develop statistical analyses and reports
- Skills in the use of personal computers and related software applications
- Database management skills
- Ability to assist in analyzing and interpreting financial data and preparing financial reports, statements, and/or projections
- Ability to organize resources and establish priorities
- Ability to conduct literature searches
- Knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures
- Awareness, sensitivity, and appreciation of Native American culture, traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs
