About the role

Cargill’s size and scale allows us to make a positive impact in the world. Our purpose is to nourish the world in a safe, responsible and sustainable way. As a Grain Origination Sales Associate in Cargill’s Ag & Trading business, you will connect agricultural producers to food, feed and industrial customers through the supply chain. This role spans Canada, the United States, and Mexico, with an expansive asset footprint including over 200 grain elevators, export/import facilities, oilseed crush plants, and biodiesel facilities.

You will participate in a training program to become a specialist in grain origination, learning the sale of various grain marketing solutions and positioning regenerative agriculture practices to growers. The role involves developing long-term relationships with customers, working both over the phone and face-to-face with grain producers on the farm. You will help farmers improve their usage of our full range of products, address customer problems, and craft new opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • 40% Role Training and Skills Development: A mixture of classroom, group, and individual training to learn the grain industry, Cargill’s North American grain business, and the specifics of the grain origination territory. Training includes developing sales processes and skills to work with farmer customers on Risk Management solutions.
  • 30% Job Shadowing: Gain on-the-job experience by shadowing other grain originators, both in person and remotely. Take initiative in personal development while collaborating with peers and managers to learn and demonstrate skills with customers.
  • 30% Customer Management: Take responsibility for a list of customers, handling professional relationships from start to finish. This includes pre-call planning, conducting in-person meetings and phone calls, buying grain into Cargill locations, positioning Risk Management solutions, and exploring carbon market opportunities.
