The Impact You'll Have
Alliant Engineering has a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Traffic & ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) Engineer to join our newly established, beautiful Tampa office!
Responsibilities
- Support traffic engineering studies including traffic impact analyses, signal warrant analyses, and corridor studies
- Aid in traffic operations modeling and capacity analyses using Synchro/SimTraffic and Highway Capacity Manual methodologies
- Support ITS System Engineering projects, completing system reviews, documenting client needs, and developing sections of Concept of Operations and requirements
- Conduct Acceptance Testing for ITS projects, completing field reviews and other system documentation
- Utilize GIS to summarize traffic signal system inventories
- Create plans for ITS and traffic signal system upgrades using CAD
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data for various transportation projects
- Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, and public agency staff to support project delivery
- Visit sites and conduct field reviews for traffic engineering evaluations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on transportation planning and engineering projects
- Continue professional growth through training, mentorship, and development opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or other engineering field of study
- 2-4 years of experience in Traffic and Transportation Engineering
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Skilled in being organized and adept in managing competing priorities
- Exceptional technical, written, and oral communication competences
- Strong familiarity with traffic operations software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, and Highway Capacity Manual
- Signal timing and signal controller proficiency
- Traffic signal design experience
- Roadway signing and pavement marking knowledge
- IMSA traffic Signal Field Technician II certification
- Working knowledge of MicroStation and AutoCAD
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong familiarity with traffic operations software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, and Highway Capacity Manual
- Signal timing and signal controller proficiency
- Traffic signal design experience
- Roadway signing and pavement marking knowledge
- IMSA traffic Signal Field Technician II certification
- Working knowledge of MicroStation and AutoCAD
