About the role

The State University of New York (SUNY) System Administration, located in Albany, NY is searching for a graduate student to support a variety of projects and administrative priorities.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Support tracking of key operational priorities across the Deputy Chief Operating Officer (COO) portfolio, including shared services, procurement, digital transformation, facilities, emergency management, and other cross-system initiatives.
  • Prepare background research, briefing materials, and concise summaries for meetings with SUNY System leadership, campus partners, state agencies, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain project trackers, action item lists, timelines, and follow-up logs to ensure decisions, deadlines, and next steps are documented and monitored.
  • Review and synthesize campus feedback, survey responses, reports, and operational data to identify themes, risks, opportunities, and areas needing leadership attention.
  • Aid in drafting and editing memos, talking points, presentations, meeting notes, and internal communications that translate complex operational issues into clear language.
  • Cook up logistics and materials for meetings, workgroups, and stakeholder engagement sessions, including agendas, attendance, notes, and post-meeting follow-up.
  • Provide general analytical and administrative support on special projects that advance COO's goals, operational efficiency, risk reduction, and improved service to campuses.

Job Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program at a SUNY school
  • Strong proficiency across the full Microsoft Office Suite of applications (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Forms)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines while balancing competing priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Eagerness to learn on the job and develop a variety of skillsets

Additional Information

  • Hours are flexible. Schedule will be coordinated around academic commitments. Typically averaging 20 hours per week.
  • Paid Positions: Undergraduate: $16.00/hour. Graduate students $18.00/hour.
