About the Role

Under the medical supervision of a physician Anesthesiologist, administers general and regional anesthesia for all types of surgical, obstetrical, and other procedures requiring anesthesia services to patients of various age groups—neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric—in accordance with hospital and departmental standards of care. Responsibilities may include airway management, maintenance of fluid balance, homeostasis, monitoring, response to emergencies related to airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and management of patients on ventilators.

Responsibilities

  • Administers anesthesia to patients across all age groups.
  • Upholds Kaiser Permanente’s Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
  • Complies with organizational rules, policies, and procedures (e.g., TJC, Title 22, Regional, and Department requirements).
  • Evaluates patients pre-operatively through interviews and examinations; reviews charts for relevant information.
  • Collaborates with physicians to select appropriate anesthetics based on pre-operative examinations.
  • Demonstrates understanding of cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation processes for patients of all age groups.
  • Evaluates patient responses to pre-medication and communicates special concerns to surgeons and physician anesthesiologists.
  • Checks anesthesia equipment daily and between cases to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Prepares drugs for administration and monitors patients intraoperatively.
  • Evaluates operative and post-operative patient conditions to maintain stability.
  • Performs post-operative evaluations within 24 hours.
  • Maintains accurate accounting of controlled substances per departmental guidelines.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies as outlined in department policies.
  • Establishes and maintains courteous and cooperative relations with patients, staff, and other personnel.
  • May perform other duties within the scope of licensure/certification as required.
  • Works within an Anesthesia team model, collaborating with MDAs, CRNAs, and Anesthesia TECHs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an educational program in Nurse Anesthesia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs and Schools by date of hire.
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (California) within 5 months of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required at hire from the American Heart Association.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in general and regional anesthesia administration, deep sedation, and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Proficiency in using all anesthesia-related equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team player.
  • Recent OB experience with placement of spinal and epidural anesthesia.

Schedule

  • Full-time (40 hours per week).
  • Variable shift: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat.
  • Working hours: 07:00 AM – 06:59 AM.
  • Requires travel to Santa Clarita MOB Outpatient Surgery site (10% of the time).
  • Standby shift required.

Pay

$123.43 - $127.13 per hour (annual equivalent). Actual base pay determined at offer will be based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
