About the Role

The Graduate Academic Advisor is a permanent position reporting to the Administrative Director of Graduate Programs in the Bryan School of Business and Economics. The role focuses on improving retention, time-to-degree, and student satisfaction outcomes for students in the MBA Program and its affiliated certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Manage advising caseload reflective of current MBA enrollments
  • Manage online student engagement
  • Develop and oversee professional development programming
  • Participate in recruitment activities and advise prospective students interested in the Accelerated Masters Program and the Dual Registration track
  • Serve as chapter advisor for Beta Gamma Sigma honor society and Spartan Women in Business
  • Manage study abroad programming and course (MBA 745) planning
  • Plan events such as Beta Gamma Sigma ceremony and graduation networking celebrations
  • Support orientation events
  • Support Graduate Programs Office Operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution
  • Experience contributing to student success initiatives in a higher education setting
  • Proven experience working with diverse populations in a higher education setting
  • Experience in academic advising or developing and implementing services/initiatives to support student success and retention

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education experience working with graduate students/programs, especially with online or adult learners
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Ellucian BANNER, and Canvas)

  • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple priorities or projects in a fast-paced work environment
  • Willingness to embrace innovative advising practices using technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in a team environment and contribute positively to the mission and vision of the organization
  • Adept at interacting with others in a professional and collaborative manner
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to manage sizeable projects, delegating when appropriate
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Pay

$50,000 - $55,000

Schedule

  • Full-time (1.0 FTE)
  • 12 months per year
  • Permanent position
  • Exempt (FLSA)
