About the role

Weis Markets is seeking a Pharmacy Graduate Intern to join our team. This position is not remote and requires in-person work in central to eastern Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping resolve issues, and supporting daily pharmacy operations.
  • Perform technician-level tasks including data entry, prescription processing, and inventory management.
  • Participate in patient counseling activities under direct pharmacist supervision.
  • Support clinical services such as immunizations, MTM, medication synchronization, and patient outreach.
  • Process third-party claims and help resolve insurance-related issues.
  • Enter and update patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system accurately.
  • Interact with physicians and utilize reference material to gain information on customers and prescriptions.
  • Perform initial drug utilization reviews and identify potential drug interactions or contraindications, escalating concerns to the supervising pharmacist.
  • Assist in managing pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and removing expired medications.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and development opportunities as they arise in the company.
  • Shadow and learn management tasks and team leadership responsibilities under the guidance of the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Progress through the New Pharmacist Training checklist and complete checklist prior to licensure.
  • Travel to assigned store locations and attend scheduled events (e.g., flu clinics, DM ride-along).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited college or university.
  • Eligibility to work as a graduate intern as defined by the state Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must have and maintain an active Pharmacy Intern License in good standing with the state Board of Pharmacy (where applicable).
  • Minimum age of 18 to meet education and experience requirements.
  • Ability to pass drug test.
  • Committed to providing customer service that makes both internal and external customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.
  • Ability and willingness to move with purpose and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and extended days on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work day, evening, and/or night shift.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks/projects.
  • Familiarity with industry/technical terms and processes.
  • Ability to work within strict time frames and resolute deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly and frequently.
  • Ability to perform different tasks on different days as necessary.
  • Ability to respond to interruptions and then return seamlessly to task at hand.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining a sense of calm.
  • Ability to multi-task for extended periods of time.

Qualification Requirements

  • Education and/or Experience: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited institution. Active intern registration with the State Board of Pharmacy (if required by state).
  • Licenses and Certifications: Current CPR certification (if participating in immunization services). Immunization training certification (if participating in immunization services).
  • Physical Demands: Regularly stand, walk, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, talk, hear, lift up to 10 pounds, carry up to 25 pounds, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Work Environment: Indoor conditions with a moderate noise level.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $XX - $YY per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

This position requires in-person work in central to eastern Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey. Specific schedules will be determined based on location and availability.
