About the role
Weis Markets is seeking a Pharmacy Graduate Intern to join our team. This position is not remote and requires in-person work in central to eastern Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping resolve issues, and supporting daily pharmacy operations.
- Perform technician-level tasks including data entry, prescription processing, and inventory management.
- Participate in patient counseling activities under direct pharmacist supervision.
- Support clinical services such as immunizations, MTM, medication synchronization, and patient outreach.
- Process third-party claims and help resolve insurance-related issues.
- Enter and update patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system accurately.
- Interact with physicians and utilize reference material to gain information on customers and prescriptions.
- Perform initial drug utilization reviews and identify potential drug interactions or contraindications, escalating concerns to the supervising pharmacist.
- Assist in managing pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and removing expired medications.
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and development opportunities as they arise in the company.
- Shadow and learn management tasks and team leadership responsibilities under the guidance of the Pharmacy Manager.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
- Progress through the New Pharmacist Training checklist and complete checklist prior to licensure.
- Travel to assigned store locations and attend scheduled events (e.g., flu clinics, DM ride-along).
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
- Perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited college or university.
- Eligibility to work as a graduate intern as defined by the state Board of Pharmacy.
- Must have and maintain an active Pharmacy Intern License in good standing with the state Board of Pharmacy (where applicable).
- Minimum age of 18 to meet education and experience requirements.
- Ability to pass drug test.

- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and extended days on a regular basis.

Qualification Requirements
- Education and/or Experience: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited institution. Active intern registration with the State Board of Pharmacy (if required by state).
- Licenses and Certifications: Current CPR certification (if participating in immunization services). Immunization training certification (if participating in immunization services).
- Physical Demands: Regularly stand, walk, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, talk, hear, lift up to 10 pounds, carry up to 25 pounds, climb stairs and ladders.
- Work Environment: Indoor conditions with a moderate noise level.
