Graduate Intern - Athletic Communication

Batten University, a NCAA Division III institution and member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, is located in Virginia Beach, VA. The university sponsors 24 varsity sports teams, supporting almost 500 student-athletes.

About the role

The Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant reports to the Director of Athletic Communications and supports the promotion and visibility of the university's intercollegiate athletic programs through strategic communications, digital media, and event coverage.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage athletic content for the website and social media platforms
• Write news releases and game recaps
• Maintain statistics and historical records
• Coordinate photography and multimedia content
• Support game-day operations
• Collaborate with coaches, student-athletes, and campus partners to enhance the university's athletic brand

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong written communication and organizational skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by athletic events
• Valid driver’s license and insurable by the college’s auto insurance carrier

Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with collegiate athletic experience.
